Muff's Recipe for 2001 Toffee Bars:
1 c. butter (marg. will not do)
approx. 1½ packets graham crackers
(enough to cover the bottom of a cookie sheet with sides)
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. almond flakes
1 c. chocolate chips
Lay crackers on cookie sheet. Melt butter and brown sugar in a medium
saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 3 minutes stirring
constantly (I find that turning it down a notch or two makes for better
results). Pour sugar mixture over cookies. Sprinkle almonds over top and
bake at 350 for 8 minutes (remove from oven if it begins to scorch.)
Sprinkle chocolate chips over top and allow to sit for about 5 minutes
until chips are softened. Spread melted chips to cover cookie base. Cut
into squares while still warm then chill.
